This example demonstrates a very simple facade lighting project done from scratch within Lumen Designer.
Follow along, as we guide you through this project:
Start Menu |
After Lumen Designer starts, the user is presented with the Start Menu screen. This is helpful to start new projects and open recent projects. For this project, we'll select the Start New Project button. |
|
Profile
|
Next, we'll draw the profile of our facade use polylines.
Note: We're drawing the profile in plan at this point. |
|
Extrude |
Now, we can extrude our profile to create our facade. |
|
Rotate |
We can now rotate our newly create facade so that it's horizontal. |
|
Layers |
After moving the facade back towards the origin, we explode the mesh.
This allows us to place surfaces on different layers. This will make material selection much easier - we can then apply materials by layer. |
|
Rendering |
After selecting our luminaire type, we need only add an array of luminaires - burial mounts uplighting the wall.
Note: As an exterior design, with very little interreflected light, the Detailed settings were used to provide a smooth rendering even without the hybrid technique. |
 |
Hybrid |
A hybrid, however, does show the material textures - in this case the rough bricks and concrete.

Summary
Although fairly simple, this project shows how quickly you can do some design verification and test different scenarios.
