Design
Lumen
Designer includes the power and the tools
to design any architectural space you can imagine
- in less time than you thought possible. Armed with
a CAD system that rivals standard CAD software, extendable
libraries of objects, materials, and lighting products,
plus state-of-the-art radiosity calculations, you
have the power to spend your time designing and imagining
the possibilities.
- Ease
of Use : while Lumen Designer has the power
to tackle virtually any project through its advanced
CAD system, ease of use was the driving force
behind its creation. You can design the majority of
your projects without ever tapping into the vast capabilities
of the 3D CAD system - the software will do the 3D
"thinking" for you.
- Any
geometry : sloped surfaces, curved ceilings,
complex meshes - Lumen Designer can handle virtually
any architectural space.
-
Designer Wizard : creates complex spaces
in just seconds. Simply follow the prompts to create
any room outline (including polygonal and L-shapes),
flat ceilings, sloped ceilings, gable roofs, barrel
vaults, or any complex ceiling mesh. Then have the
Wizard automatically create a grid at a specified
workplane. The room and grid are created in just
seconds.
-
Architectural
Object Library : chairs, tables, desks,
and other typical architectural objects are included
with Lumen Designer. Best of all, the entire library
is extendable - through objects you add, objects
downloaded from the Internet, or accessed via the
LTI website. Drag and drop these objects into your
room.
-
Robust
CAD : Lumen Designer's built-in CAD system
includes features you might not expect in lighting
design software - but should. These include multiple
undo/redo, multiple object snaps, command line interface,
dynamic CAD views (including pan, orbit, dolly,
tilt, and a full selection of zooms), multiple UCS
and construction planes for 3D drawing.
- Layer
Management System : If you want more control
over your project information, a sophisticated layer
management system allows you to create layers, control
visibility and selectability, assign material and
line properties by-Layer and export out to DXF/DWG
format. Assigning materials byLayer allows you to
quickly swap in a new material for all objects on
that layer. You can also override this by specifying
the materials for the individual objects, allowing
ultimate flexibility and ease-of-use. However, for
those not wanting to tap into that level of control,
you never need to think about layers since Lumen Designer
handles it for you automatically.
-
DXF
and AutoCAD© DWG support : import
your CAD files directly into Lumen Designer - including
the 3Dfaces, polygons, and meshes. Assign materials
as needed, easily orient the surfaces with Lumen
Designer’s advanced orientation tools, and
your ready to calculate. Lumen Designer supports
the latest AutoCAD file formats. At the end of your
project, you can export your design back out to
DXF or DWG file formats.
- Block
Auto-Replace : With this feature you can
identify any named blocks imported from your DXF or
DWG files (such as lighting fixture symbols) and replace
them with Lumen Designer objects, such as luminaires.
This can save you hours of time and makes full use
of the information already in the CAD files you import.
-
Lighting
Product Database : over 90,000 lighting
products worldwide are now available in LTI's industry-wide
database. Search by manufacturer and product line,
or use advanced search criteria to find products
based on product type, lamp source, or other criteria.
Some products even include photos, line drawings,
and specifications.
- eLumit
Integration : New!
The eLumit
lighting search engine is now integrated directly
inside of Lumen Designer. Download product information,
including photometrics, directly to Lumen Designer.
- Worldwide
Photometric Format File Support - Ability
to import IESNA, CIE, EULUMDAT, CIBSE and LTL-I format
photometric files.
-
Lighting
Layout Tools
: use the Luminaire Placement Wizard to quickly
and accurately locate luminaires in your project,
with the following methods:
- Add
fixtures individually or as an array - arrays
include rectangular, polar or checkerboard.
- Auto-Layout
- enter your target light level and Lumen Designer
will compute the quantity required. You can then
use the array tools to add the luminaires to your
space.
- Smart-Placement
- the fixture elevation is automated based on
the ceiling configuration (including complex ceiling
configurations) - Ceiling Recessed, Ceiling Suspended,
at a specified Mounting Height, or at a User-Defined
(Arbitrary) Plane.
-
Quick
Edit : on-screen properties dialog allows
you to quickly edit one or more items in your space
and see the changes in real-time.
- Designer
Checklist : have Lumen Designer walk you
through your project creation using the Designer Checklist.
- Electronic
Documentation : Lumen Designer includes a
context-sensitive HTML help system, electronic User's
Guide and on-line interactive tutorials to guide you
through learning the software.
- Online
FAQs : Lumen Designer also links directly
to the Lighting Technologies' web site, allowing you
immediate access to Frequently Asked Questions and
other important support information.
