Simply Lighting 2002

Simply Outdoor 2002

Summary

Simply Outdoor is a simple, step-driven application targeted at quickly producing lighting layouts for area lighting applications such as parking lots and other exterior applications. It includes an automatic layout tool that determines the optimal pole spacing for perimeter lighting and arrayed lighting across a large area. An ideal product for anyone creating exterior area lighting designs.

  • Model any exterior application - parking lots, areas, etc.
  • Import and export DXF/DWG files (AutoCAD 2000 supported)
  • Draw your site with Simply Outdoor's own CAD system.
  • Automatically generate the optimum lighting layout using design criteria you define.
  • Control the spacing between calculation points; add masking to points that you do not want included in the calculations.
  • Perform fast and accurate point-by-point calculations.
  • Update calculations instantly anytime you make a change to your design with Auto Recalc.
  • Make manually placing and spacing luminaires a snap with Luminaire Iso-Templates.
  • Generate complete, professional reports that include scaled drawings, gray-scale shaded plots, and illuminance contours.

New Features for 2002

  • Updated DXF/DWG Import - includes support for AutoCAD 2002
  • Advanced Grid enhancements – ability to change the Grid Text height, Grid text # of decimals, Contour label text height, Contour label # of decimals, and Isotemplate levels (including Auto-configure)
  • New Output - New pre-defined printout that combines statistical summary, pole schedule, and CAD view all on one page. Plus, flexibility to print CAD views in color or in black and white.
  • Updated Interface – uses the new 2002 interface.
  • Improved CAD view operation – better performance

Step #1 : Define your Site

You can import an existing DXF/DWG file for your site, or enter the site extents and draw any background objects within the CAD system.

Step #2 : Define your Grid and Design Criteria

Enter the spacing for your grid points and a grid height. Enter the required light levels for the design (minimum and/or average). You can mask points that you don't want included in the calculations.

Step #3 : Select your luminaire and pole type

Specify the luminaire you wish to use from LTI's industry-wide product database (included), or select a loose photometric file. Define the head configuration and the pole size. You can add several product types to your schedule and add them as needed to your design.

Step #4 : Create Layout

Use Simply Outdoor's state-of-the-art automatic layout tools to create perimeter-based lighting or arrayed lighting over a large area. Simply Outdoor will optimize the pole spacing to meet your design criteria.

A design that meets all design criteria can be produced in just a few minutes. All grid statistics are updated in real-time and shown just below the CAD view.

Step #5 : View Results and Modify (as needed)

Review the results. Add or remove additional poles, alter locations, change aiming, etc. All changes are updated in real-time for instant feedback.

You can use shaded plots, contours, or color-coded text values (shown at right). For color-coded text values, 'green' is used to indicate that the lighting value is at or exceeds the design criteria.

Step #6 : Output

Select from several pre-defined output pages including a single-page summary that includes a scaled CAD view.
