FAQ: Lumen Designer (CAD / Model Creation)

Q: Why won’t the property editor display the common properties of the object I have selected?

A: Increase the property limit under File > Application Settings > CAD. The computer must assess each object and then identify the commonalities between it and all other selected objects. The higher the limit the longer the selection process will take. Object property limit ranges between 100 and 10,000.

Q: I created an Area or Room and wish to delete it from the Project.

A: Select the area or room name in the Project Explorer > Right Click once > Click Select. Once you see the Area or Room name listed in the Property Editor you may select delete. By deleting a Room or Area you will also delete all of it's dependent children. You may want to Re-parent objects to a new area first. Click Refresh Display and the Project Explorer will up date.

Q: How can I change a room name?

A: Left click the room name in the Project Explorer and right click to select.  Change the name in the Property Editor below.

Q: How do I add an imported CAD drawing to an Area?

A: Start a new project and create an Area large enough to contain the imported drawing. After adding an Area, the program will automatically set the new Area as the current insert and display area. Anything you add to the layout including an imported drawing will parented by (listed under) the current insert area.

Q: Why can I stretch some walls, but not others?

A: Once a wall (mesh) has had a Window placed on it (been punched), it may no longer be stretched. The Window itself cannot be stretched.

Q: How does an object rotate around a point in plan?

A: Positive 45 degrees will rotate counter clockwise (Right-hand Rule) and a -45 will rotate clockwise.

Q: Why can I use OSNAP with one imported model but not another?

A: Increase the mesh vertex limit under File | Application Settings | OSNAP. The computer must assess each object and then identify the commonalities between it and all other selected objects. The higher the limit the longer the selection process will take. Vertex limit ranges between 300 and 100,000.
