Q : How do I install and authorize a full version
of Lumen Designer?
A: If you have purchased a site license for Lumen Designer,
please follow the instructions outlined below:
- If
you have Windows NT or Windows 2000 as an operating
system, make sure that you are logged
on as Administrator.
- Close all other applications that may be open.
- Insert
the Lumen Designer CD. If the setup screen does
not automatically come up, go to
Start | Run,
and type in "x:\setup" (replace "x" with
your CD drive name).
- Follow the setup directions on each the screen.
- Computer will restart.
- Try to run Lumen Designer from Start | Programs
| Lighting Technologies
| Lumen Designer |

- You will need to email the computers Site Code
in to the registry to obtain
a license.
To do this
go
to Help | About Licensing and click
on the Email button. If you are using
a
laptop you
will need to
toggle the
laptop box before selecting the Email
button.
- Email your Site Code (the first box with a 20 digit
#) to register@lighting-technologies.com.
You
will
then be provided with a Site Key
that corresponds with your Site
Code. You
may also fax 720-891-0031.
Make
sure your name, users name, company
name,
and phone number are included in
the email with
the Site Code
before sending the email.
- When you receive your Site Key from Lighting Technologies,
open
Lumen Designer,
go to
Help | About/Licensing,
enter your Site Key, and click
on "Submit".
Be sure to use copy and paste when transferring your
Site Key to the licensing screen.
Note: Site codes change every
week until the computer is
permanently authorized. Once a
key has been entered
the Site Code will change and
each
Site
Key works one time only. If
a license is lost
for whatever
reason
you must repeat the authorization
process. This process will
not install the product
library database.
Q: How
do I install the Product Libraries from my CD installation
or the libraries I downloaded from the LTI website?
A: After installing and authorizing
Lumen Designer follow the instructions below to install
the product library.
- Open
Lumen Designer, click the Tools menu and Product
Library Manager. A screen will appear showing you
the currently installed libraries.
- To install a new library, click the Install Lighting
Library button. Navigate to the
Library folder on your
installation CD. If you downloaded the library,
you will need to unzip the file before navigating
to the
file location through Lumen Designer. Select
the library you wish to install (Note: NA
= North American, EU
= European). Once the file is selected, click
open.
- You will be asked if you want to copy the file
to a new location. For best performance
we recommend that
you copy it locally to your hard drive or to
a server location.
- Once completed, the library selected will be listed
on the Installed Libraries list.
Click the library
from the list to make it your current library.
- You can repeat this process to install additional
libraries from the CD or any
libraries downloaded
from the LTI website.
Q: How do I check my version number?
A: Open Lumen Designer and go to Help -> About / Licensing.
Q: How do I transfer my copy/license of Lumen Designer to a new computer?
A: Email the site code from the old computer and request a deactivation license. Enter the deactivation license into the site key text box on the licensing screen upon receipt. Then send the site code from the new computer requesting the authorization key. You may combine the codes in a single email if you wish.
