Q: How
do I change the Units for the design file?
A:
The units can be changed from the Configuration window. Open
the Configuration window by selecting Configuration... from
the File pull down menu. Once the Configuration window opens,
select the Program tab and change the System Units.
Q:
How
do I change the configuration settings?
A:
Go to File | Configuration on the main menu.
Q: Where
do I go to set the font and page size?
A:
Go to File | Configuration | Output | Page Font.
Q: What
Photometric files are supported by Lumen Micro?
A:
IES LM-63-95, CIBSE TM14 1988, EULUMDAT, CIE, and LTL-I.
Q: Why
do we recommend Windows NT4 or Windows 2000 over Windows
9x?
A:
Lumen Micro is designed to run on Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000,
and Me. However, our experience has been that NT and 2000
are better suited for technical software, processor intense
programs, and multitasking between these high-end programs
because they help to provide speed and stability.
Q: The
+ and - buttons do not work when I want to zoom in Lumen
Micro.
A:
Go to File | Configuration | CAD | Zoom Increment. Set this
to a number between 0 and 1. 1 will not zoom, 0.5 will zoom
to half of the previous view (2x magnification), and 0.1 will
zoom to one-tenth the view (10x magnification).
Q: How
do I scale my DXF/DWG import?
A:
Use the following steps:
-
Go to File | Import DXF/DWG and open up the drawing, but
stay in the Import Screen (do not click OK to import the
drawing into Lumen Micro's CAD view).
- Zoom
in (using the W button) on a part of the drawing you
know a dimension (the width of a single parking space,
for
example). Note this as your "Needed Distance". Move your
cursor between the two points, noting the difference in
the X and/or Y coordinates displayed at the bottom of the
window. Note this as your "Measured Distance".
- Perform
a simple division calculation: Divide " Needed Distance"
by "Measured Distance". This is your scaling factor. Enter
this number in the scale by text box. Quite often, this
number is 3.28, 1/3.28, 12, or 1 ½ (Meters to feet, or
feet to inches).
-
Once you enter a new scaling factor, you may have zoomed
into the DWG to far to see anything, so click on the E button
(Zoom extents). Zoom in again on your known object and re-measure
it. It should be correct now. If not, repeat steps two and
three.
-
Click OK and your drawing should be imported at the correct
scale.
Note:
Lumen Micro only operates in feet and meters.
Q: I
am having trouble importing DXF/DWG files into Lumen
Micro.
A:
There are several reasons that may cause Lumen Micro to have
trouble importing or exporting DXF/DWG files.
-
External references: Lumen Micro's DXF/DWG import/export
functionality does not support external references or proxy
objects that are contained within other drawing files. The
drawing file imported into Lumen Micro to be used for a
background should contain all of the active elements in
one file.
- Unexploded
blocks containing elements from several layers: Lumen Micro's
layering system needs to assign each element to a single
layer and a single color. If a CAD file has blocks that
combine elements from different layers, and these layers
have different colors, Lumen Micro may not be able to import
or export them correctly. Before importing this CAD background
to Lumen Micro, all elements should be selected and exploded.
-
Attributes: Lumen Micro's DXF/DWG import/export functionality
does not support attributes. If your CAD background contains
attributes, turn these attributes off before importing this
file to Lumen Micro. For example, in AutoCAD 2000, go to
View | Display | Attribute Display | Off.
If
you are still having problems importing or exporting a DXF/DWG
file, please contact Lighting Technologies support.
Q: Why
can't I print or save information in Lumen Micro? The
program says these options are not available
in the Demonstration Version, but I purchased the Full Version.
A:
The problem is the result of accessing a Simply Lighting program
from Lumen Micro using the Assist menu. To reset the licensing
for the program, exit Lumen Micro, then start the program
again. Re-booting your computer system is not necessary.
Q: How
do I add external photometric files to the Database?
A:
Photometric files can be stored and classified in the Folders.
The Database is a closed system and photometric information
cannot be added by outside sources, except through LTI. For
more information regarding the addition of photometric information
to the Database, please contact LTI.
